In 2021, we started installing Solar PV systems in Crete.
We have advised customers and installed solar pv in and around Vamos, Kalyves, Kefalas, Kokkino Chorio, Almyryda, Plaka, Gavalachori and many other locations.
Unlike many other local installer teams, we have no special relationship with any supplier – for example, Victron (whose products we thought very expensive).
We are also concerned that Warranties and Guarantees should apply to any PV equipment, and so from the start we recommended most of our customers to buy direct from one of the largest on-line stores in the world.
We do the research online and specify which items are needed, and customers then order the items directly. One big advantage of this method is pricing transparency for the customer.
NB.
Not included in the product list are “bulky” solar panels (modules) and array structures, wich we usually order directly from Local firms in Crete.
The list features what we consider to be relevant to residential customers, and does not include other products more suited to businesses.

Amazon is probably the largest and most efficient on-line company for ordering a vast number of different products – including items and equipment for the PV Solar market – with ratings and customer reviews available.
With BREXIT effective from 2019, for our UK customers living in Crete we had to use a European based business to ensure EU custom and import tax freedom.
We chose Amazon.de – the German based Amazon Company. The range of products is the same, and English versions of their website make it just as simple as dealing with Amazon.co.uk.
Amazon have a strong relationship with their suppliers, which means that if any PV products are defective for one reason or another, the product Warranties and Guarantees will apply with Amazon Customer Service as back up.
Most importantly, items can be delivered to Crete efficiently and quickly.
Trends in Residential PV Solar Products in 2024
The pace of change and innovation in the PV Solar market is rapid. Prices for all the major components of a PV Solar System – Panels (Modules), Inverters and Batteries have decreased significantly in the last three years, and this trend is set to continue.
Solar Panels (Modules) – Many suppliers in Europe have excess stock, and this combined with improved efficiency from newer stock (TOPCon, PERC etc) has resulted in lower prices.
Battery Technology has rapidly advanced, meaning that the high performing LiFePO4 (Lithium) type is now much closer to the pricepoint of the AGM type of Battery previously popular. Modern PV Batteries now operate at a much higher DC voltage.
PV Inverters have become much more sophisticated and powerful, and many top “Brands” have since entered the market – for eample, Huawei. The latest trend in residential PVSolar are “all-in-one solutions” where Inverters and Batteries come as one high Voltage unit in a cabinet.
